Defuse dam map

Oh no! The evil terrorists have decided to attack a dam in the middle of nowhere! Let's hope that they choose to blow up the pile of crates near an old barn instead of that multimillion pound (Oh, sorry- DOLLAR) dam that's keeping the flood waters back! The CTs start on one side of the map and must defend against the Terrorists in the usual DE manner.

This is my second bomb map that I have ever finished. I began rushing towards the end because I have plans for other maps and I just wanted to get this one out of the way, I've been adding bits to this map for over a year now. It's not the most detailed map in the world, but it's balanced and fine tuned and hopefully fun to play.

I could comment on how I could have done better with this map, and how the multiple different themes don't really go together too well, or how there isn't as much detail as I'd like there to be... but instead I'll just say that I'm pleased with this map. I start too many and I finish too few and for once I've managed to strike a balance between quantity and quality, which i can hopefully build on with future maps that I make. I have learned a lot about mapping this this map, particularly about colour schemes and gameplay. Thanks to everybody who has playtested this map at various stages in its development, especially Sonickiller, Zero and Mr13A. Thanks also to Rusty who has supported me throughout. It's nice having a motivational guru, especially one as experienced as Rusty! I have enjoyed making and playing this map and I hope that other people will too.

In case you hadn't noticed, naming maps isn't my strong point.

Good map is good, although you really should think about re-doing it, and spending a LOT more time on the texturing. (custom textures only for your map is always awesome ^_^)

And some of the brushwork isn't really that good, and make it more balanced, so it all flows better. (meaning texture wise)

Posted by admin You mean, it's a zip file?
no the second link gives you something thats not the map
I tried all 3 download links, they all contain the BSP file. I also included the vmf if people wanted to open it up in Hammer, a README!.txt and all of the files you need to enter manually in case the BSP doesn't work. I don't understand your problem.

well it seems to be only effecting me but its ok since 2 other links work fine.

Interesting. The best all rounded, finished map I have made so far has received the most criticism.

No visual clutter, well balanced, could make a great competitive map! Feels like it was made with the core elements of a good CS map in mind.

Pros: Very thought out and balanced. Very fun to play on. Its very clear this map has been thought out and tweaked accordingly to playtests which is awesome. Cons: Some texture misalignments but nothing major. I did get a weird bug by the dam,If you stand on the left side on the stairs closest to the dam and look at the sewer, the arch you used to make the bottom part, disappears, as seen here: Photobucket Another thing was some areas formed together to make a unanimous blob, making it dull and uninteresting. I found two places like this but this is just one: Photobucket Not a huge deal just something that takes away from the overall beauty of the map. The last thing I spotted was just ugly geometry. The roof here is blocky and unrealistic, Photobucket I would have made it a slanted roof, or flat with some edge piece sticking off, anything to make it more real/prettier. Improvements: Overall this is an extremely well planned and looking map. Theres some minor things that set it back a little though but nothing major. The arch problem isn't your fault just a minor annoyance, my guess is vvis made a mistake. I would like it if you improved the texture variance, to make it more interesting. That and make the roof of the building more pretty and less awkward. Notes: Who ever heard of a dam in the middle of the desert?
Sorry about the assessment rating, I forgot to set it, but you have to wait before you can edit it.
