surf skill map based on teamplay

Hey,

this is my second map. This time i worked togheter with Chuck Norris. The Map has 8 Stages, 6 Jails (5 after finishing the map, 1 after timeleft.), and 1 littl bonus in every Stage. Both of us worked on the Stages so every Stage has something of me or Chuck Norris. System written by me. Every Team can collect max. 4 bonuses of 8.


How the System works:

When you start at Spawn you can enter only Stage 1 and 2. If you finish one of the Stages you have to push a button to gain Points. Also there is a bar that turns around after you pressed the button where you can enable one of the other 6 Stages for ur team. You get points for every Stage your Team will finish.

Stage 1 = 1 point Stage 2 = 2 points Stage 3 = 3 points ...etc.

That means that you can gain max 36 points in one round.


When the timer is at the end before your team finished you get a weapon depending on how many points you gained.

For example:

9 points = tmp 22 points = p90 26 points = scout

    A really great map! I like everything of the map, the unique system, the textures and the surf.

    That makes no sense. Just looking at the screenshots, your map has tons of clipping and that is what is causing you to reach the limits on max brush sides. If you did other themes like forest, desert, or sky, you probably would end up using less brushes/brush sides and more displacements/models. Even if you just use a different texture scheme, it all depends on how much clipping you do.

Maybe that is a personal issue but I think that you can be sure the public is pleased if you make ramps and surf areas bigger. Give people space to move! Furthermore, I missed instructions. Yes, there is a decal explaining the points system but there is no decal telling you how those buttons work. Improvements: Next time, make the ramps and surf space bigger. Also, create a possibility for players to learn what to do. Also note that making every stage completely different would improve the enjoyment of surfing. Players will get curious of how a stage looks like. If players know every stage has the same textures and ambience, there will be some sort of disappointment at the end. EDIT: Now I think of it..imagine this map being a world travel machine. Every stage would have it's own theme. Jungle, city, desert etc etc. And the spawn is some sort of portal hub where people can choose their destination. Hah, awesum :D Notes: Great work. I personally can say that the system is very nice and unique. The surf and the looks of this map however are slightly disappointing. If this map would have more surf space and bigger ramps, and the stages would have been different, then this map would be one big bullseye!

    Well your right that it looks all the same. We discussed that at the start of the projekt but we decided that we try to create a unique look that goes through the map. I think a lot of people like it but ur argument is correct that different styles make the map more interessting and the long - term motivation is bigger. Someone said at surf_injection that 6 levels are not enough so we decided to make smaller stages with the ssame look. It´s a shame that hammer does not support more memory for a map. But we will consider all the points in the next map. Thanks for your critic. The only thing i don´t agree with you is the score you gave the map. Maps that are worse get more points in average. But thats your opinion and i accept it.^^

    Stavros next time have a closer look. We gave credits to everybody that needs credits. And even if the name is not there you can click on interstellar and your at the download site of the skybox. Thats even better then writing the name.
