..:: Overview

Cscentral started out in March 2006, And ive been on and off with the project, initally it was meant to be a rebuild of an old 1.6 map known as csintercept but after some thought I changed it into what is now known as cs_central. It was meant to be a piece of art at first, it was a test to see what i could do with the source engine, but after constructing a major part of the bridge and station ( which is based on a true place where i live ) I then decided to try and make it into something playable with reasonable frame rates.

The train bridge and passing road and the station itself are all based around the real place but the petrol station in real life is just an old long distant car park looking over the town.

The beach area is a large outdoor area with a bus station, When i started the project it was acutally the back of the shopping centre which has recently recieved millions of pounds of rebuilding work to make it into a 21st century bus station

and the edge of the road in cs_central which points in the direction of the old cottage near the petrol station runs to the rubgy stadium.

Thanks to Valve, I used there Coke machine from denuke. Plus The custom soundscape i used in cscentral is built around serveral of the official maps, including assault/port/office and train

        ..:: Performance

I know the map is not amazing in terms of performance, This is because i didnt plan the map very well from the begining as explained above but i believe it gets as good as it can for whats being rendered. I spent various amounts of weeks hinting and using areaportals and window portals to optimize the map, and using nodraw and func_detail.

    This is a well done map, i like the detail being put into it. But it lags a bit and i think is because of the fog

    Pros: Highly detailed and good use of HDR. Cons: Areas a clipped a little(rail tracks) and a tiny bit slower than normal maps.

    Simply awesome. I loved that nuclear reactor in the background and the infinite rails.

    Now from the start i like this map felt like a real place and decided it was going on my server!

    Only one critisism and that is one thing in games that can really annoy me - when areas that are in-accessable are just clipped and there is no obvious reason that something is stopping me ( wall/fence/barrier) etc The rail way lines is the areas end i mean.

    But apart from that minor niggle lovely work !
