INTRO
ever wonder how you make the little dust particles that float in the air around lights? well here's how you do it.
i will type out what you need to do but if you dont like to read just look at the screenshot :)
Entities needed
func_dustmotes
texture
tools/nodraw
setup
- Set up the prop or widow where the light will be shineing in
- Add whatever lighting you want in your prop or where ever you plan on using this effect
- Use you brush tool (screenshot B) and create a box or whatever shap you want the particles to float in (doesnt make that much of a difference the shape of the box really)
- Click on you box, hit "ctrl+t" and type in the dropdown menu "func_dustmotes" without the "" no doubt :)
settings
- The default settings dont look that good so use most/all the settings i use
- i suggest the color to be **255 228 174** (looks natural) particle per second: 15
- maximum visible distance: 1024, minimum particle size / maximum particle size "10 / 20
- last, alpha: 225
thats it! your done, you can play with the settings all you want, this is just what i use (it looks good so...yeah)
