Notes: You will need VTF edit or The Photoshop VTF plug-in (I won't cover the Plug-in part even though they are the same). First so get it if u don't already have it.
Here
(contact me if the link is dead)

  1. Get an image off the internet or make one, it doesn't matter. It all depends on what you want.

  2. Open Photoshop or whatever editing program you want, doesn't matter. I use Photoshop CS2. Create a new image with the size being 512x512 pixels for best results.

  3. Cut the background out of the image and use the fill tool to make the background black or however you would like to do it.

  4. Now save that file as a Targa.

  5. Now open VTF edit.

  6. Import that Targa.

  7. Now look to the side of you, you see that menu? Good now check off these following things: (screenshot 3)

A) Clamp S

B) Clamp T

C) No Mipmap

D) Eight Bit Alpha

E) Nice filter

  1. Once you have done that Save your newly made flashlight file as Flashlight001.vtf

  2. Now put that file under cstrike>materials>effects>

  3. You are done! CONGRATS!

P.S If you wanna make sounds with your flashlight make a folder under the cstrike>sounds and then call your folder "items" find your favorite .wav and paste it in there and and call it Flashlight1.wav. (Yes it has to be a .wav file no .mp3 files)

Posted by archangel505 This tut is ass, you dont even explain into detail, this isnt a tutorial. Tutorials teach people how to do something with detail. I cant even get passed step 2 cause you wont tell what buttons to press and where.

you cant work out how to make a blank 512x512 image?

This is a great tutorial and I found exactly what I was looking for. The only thing is, in vtf edit, I do not have an option for 'Nice Filter.' In its place it says unusable. Unusable appears in place of a few other options, but this still works! Thanks!

How the hell did u get that flash worked. I made a picture erased the background, made a new one (black), saved etc. as vtf ofc. in the right map but i cant select nice filter. Is that a must? cause in the game i have the normal flash.

    Any ideas?
