Creating a weapon from scratch and getting it into CS:S

Ok so i decided to add these tutorials on FPSB cause it was what taught me almost everything about creating a weapon for CS:S and i found them REALLY helpfull :D Through these tutorials you will learn how to: ** Model a weapon (in this case a glock) ** Creating the UV maps ** Basic texturing of the gun ** Creating your own rig ** Animating it ** And lastly compiling it --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (quote:) This tutorial is brought to you by the user Stormy from Game-Artist.Net, a community for and by game artists. This set of tutorials is intended to help and guide people through the full process of creating a weapon and compiling it into the Half-Life 2 Source Engine. The tutorials are going to be released in chapters, each of which will focus on a specific area of the pipeline from modeling through texturing and compiling and finally compiling into Counter-Strike: Source. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So basically if u are completely new to all this and you really want to learn and create a weapon and get it ingame, these tutorial series of pure awesomeness is for you ! :) They can also be useful if say, you already know how to model but doesnt know how to Unwrap for example. What you will need: ** 3dsMax (preferably 8) ** Photoshop (Note that you can use other programs for skinning if you dont have Photoshop, and there is plenty of skinning tutorials here on FPSB :) ) ** Everything else is explained in the tutorials :) ** and lastly some patience ;) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok the first series of tutorials will teach you how to model a weapon and can be downloaded here: model-3d-glock-weapon.zip The next series covers how you create the Uvmaps and textures and can be downloaded here: Texturing.zip The last part which covers how you create your own rig, animate and lastly compiling can be downloaded here: AnimationPart3.rar --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope you enjoy these tutorials as much as i did :D and good luck
Note that I did not make these, an awesome dude called Stormy did. So all credits goes to him :)
EDIT: If youre having trouble setting up the reference image properly, and if its tiling and making a wierd pattern read THIS tutorial that .Sp1nn3y? made :)
*NOTE* Please don't post complaining about the file size or download time, cuz there's nothing i can do about it... I suggest you get a better ISP to improve your download speed. Or you could start the download and go do something else in the meantime. Thanks.

Found your tutorial on Moddb I had lost where fpsbanana went and my heart was broken that it wouldn't load the old site. I guess I am behind in news, but I am thankful the banana lives on! Anyway, I have been following your tutorials, very in depth, and VERY LONG! But that's ok, if I am going to learn something, I am going to learn it well, the proper way, and fully complete instead of half arsed. Thank you so much for these tutorials, as it does apply to other games, and I have been working on bringing COD4 single player weapons into multi-player with some success, but I have been wanting to model and skin my own, along with Counter Strike games too :) Very good tutorials, I do warn anyone just finding these, it takes a lot of patients, download vlc player, and keep it always on top of 3Ds Max, or free software such as gmax, Softimage, blender or whatever your choice of 3D software is. And don't give up! :) just advice for anyone like me just finding this tutorial XD
