Changing buy menu images

This is a skinning tut, because you need to change .vtf files.

  1. Get GCFscape here And install it.

  2. Close Steam.

  3. Open GCFscape. Press: File>open>counter-strike source shared

  4. Go to: cstrike>materials>VGUI>>gfx>VGUI.

  5. Select all files and extract them somewhere you will remember (my docs or something).

  6. Now we are going to install the standart files to your counter-strike source, go to :

ProgramFiles/valve/steam/steamapps/USERNAME/counter-strike source/cstrike/materials/VGUI/gfx/vgui

(if those maps don't exist make them) then copy the files you just extracted to the VGUI folder you just made in gfx.

  1. Now get the VTF plugin here And install it.

  2. Now open photoshop or paintshop, then go to: file>open ProgramFiles/valve/steam/steamapps/USERNAME/counter-strike source/cstrike/materials/VGUI/gfx/vgui

and select the buy-menu picture you want to edit.

  1. Edit the picture.

  2. Then go to: file>save as enter the SAME name and save as .vtf, hold the standart options.

NOTE. You need to use the same sizes of the standart .vtf files.

    Dont forget to make an alpha channel so that u only see the gun :)

    Its easy, make a selection of ur gun pic (only the gun itself) Goto channels tab and make a new channel.. and fill ur selection with white and leave the areas outside the selection black :)

    Lol, i got it now, i totaly missed the shared folder and went stright into the cstrike folder.

    and i needed to dl VTFedit right?? cause i did dl that, but im not sure if thats the right one or not...

    ok, when i get to this step, i open up my VGUI file, it says to copy and store all the files inside somewhere.... but when i open it up, the file is empty... what does that mean??
