[GameplaY] - 64 spawn points - Many well balanced hiding places (climbing, barricading and traps) - 1 secret hiding place (shoot the wall above the door of the house, where the urn is) - Very high framerate, no lags

[Design] - High level of detail - 3d skybox - Cubemaps Unfortunately I had to turn HDR off because it reduced FPS too much in some areas (although I optimized as much as possible).

[Update History] - (08.03.2010) v2:        now for 64 players! - (10.03.2010) v3:        added some hiding places (barricading) and a connection between helipad and villa! - (11.03.2010) v3_fix:  fixed a leak... - (15.03.2010) v4:        balanced camping spots, fixed a bug with the traps (they can't be blocked by weapons anymore) - (15.03.2010) v5:        made storage room spots weaker and the traps dont kill instantly anymore (20 dmg only and players are teleported away)

    Well well, surprise surprise - ZM's infamous & irrelevant troll, Zincoshine, bleating about ZS again here in a ZM section. Why am I not surprised?

    It was never designed for GM ZS .. why would ZM mappers (or players for that matter) worry about ZS - marginalised as it is - when making or critiquing a map for ZM servers?

    The world's most popular Zombie genre` in ZM, vs a niche operation like ZS .. lols .. yep, I can see the relevance there.

    You must be bored again eh Zinc? Your entry below is about as constructive as a wet paper house, and about as meaningful.

    Instead of trolling up the ZM mappers entries with your borish, predictable & baseless criticisms / remarks about ZM maps (and their in-built secrets) in general, why don't you go play chicken .. with a Prime Mover on the highway .. run along now, there's a good chap! :-)

    Got it, tested, all good. Recommended to everyone to try this. It is an extremely well designed Barricade / Camping map & a lot of fun.

    Hints at 50ae to weaken and make an Escape map version - it would be sensational ... ;-)

    I'm sorry for the trouble, the things you mention were not intended to be so of course! With the expansion I accidentally added a leak to the map which I didn't notice because I was only looking at the new area before I uploaded the map. It's fixed now and hopefully this will really be the last version! :)

    Hello 50ae,

    Nice addition of the extra connecting area between Villa CT spawn and Helipad - well done.

    Just a couple of things stand out - if they're intentional, then fine, but I'm not sure they are.

    The small area in the first connecting tunnel between Villa & Helipad, where you jump onto 3 small offset blocks in water .. if you stand on the 3rd block - the one closest to the Helipad and look down back toward the 1st block, you can see outside the map onto the venting and other areas, rather than the previous water texture ... you might want to have a look at that.

    Secondly, if you look up at the sky from Villa CT spawn, or even from the Helipad, you can see random props & a platform of some description floating in the sky.

    Again, if they're meant to be there, all good, but if not, you may want to tidy them up to polish this map off.

    All in all, very nice additions, the FPS has not been compromised in any way at all, and the map is now well balanced and a lot of fun! Well done!

    Well first of all thanks for your detailed feedback, good to hear the map is fun to play on :) I already thought of a way to connect the areas better and at the same time add some more hiding places. But I don't think I'll make an escape version out of it, that would mean putting alot of effort in it again and since I'm not such a big fan of escape maps I don't believe I would finish that. Perhaps somebody else would like to do it? Feel free to contact me. :)

    Hello 50ae, Thank you for the pleasure of testing this map out - and for your quick turnaround in releasing a 64 spawnpoint version of this map, it is very much appreciated! Please find below our assessment for you...

    Pros: This map is a very well thought out, well planned layout. It is reminiscent of a small playground in some areas, and a combination of storage and regular household in others.

    The detail in it is very good indeed - brushwork and textures are done to a high level of quality, and the placement of props is sensibly achieved - although there are a few areas which could do with a few more props and/or expanding - see below in the Improvements area.

    The FPS in this map is really impressive - as a matter of fact 50ae, I'd suggest changing your Frames per Second in the Map Detail description area to 250+, because that is the amount of FPS I personally netgraphed in there on my own, and with 54 players in yesterday afternoon when I first d/led this 64 spawn version, I had better than 150fps ... that is fantastic optimising and a sure sign of a well compiled map!

    Nice little secret hiding place above the Urn too .. maybe one or two extra little secret hiding places like that in the first area if possible? Nice inclusion!

    Cons: A couple of things - but not to be judged on too harshly as this map was not originally designed for 64 players..

    1) Expansion of the first section of the map in general - The Villa area in first section itself is a compact map with lots of rock walls and levels in it.

    Player feedback was that they would LOVE to see more areas expanded by way of perhaps a camping tunnel or two into the rock cliffs, or a sewer system accessed via manhole covers which might lead to some underground bunker rooms with more props to Barricade in.

    The area just before, and to the lower left of the Urn, with the Button activated doors and where you find the two drink machines and the little cart ... that area needs a few more props, or to be expanded somewhat to be effective in housing a number of players who would make it a very good defensive position, but still not unattainable for the Zombies.

    2) The area that leads to the Helipad and containers etc is very well done, however the players feedback was that if it were possible, to include a couple more rooms to Barricade.

    3) I personally would also suggest that some sort of incentive signage be posted to direct players to the terrific area that contains the venting and Helipad .. often, people can judge a map on what they see initially, without exploring it as far as possible.

    The Venting / Helipad area is great, but given the fact that it is a bit disconnected from the initial Villa CT spawn area with the slippery slide and Urn camp spot secret, maybe one or two tempting directional signs, to encourage players to explore that area would be an idea

    Improvements: Other than the points made in the Cons area above, could I suggest an idea that was hugely supported in our server for your great map - turn it into or use it as a basis for an awesome Escape Map!

    You could have the starting place as the Villa itself .. space the spawnpoints out over that area, then direct the Escape traffic toward the Venting / Helipad area where players could make a choice - choose either Escape by Heli OR by Boat - open up an underground sewer tunnel system, with a set of timed defensive points / doors, down to the River you see behind the Villa, to a dock with two Escape boats.

    This maps, as it stands, is a very good effort. If you would be inclined to adopt some or all of the points above, I believe it would be close to the top of the rankings that can be given for this type of map. I rate it a very good 9.4/10 .. Well done!

    I guess I will add another area or two so it's really big enough. (And since I have holidays you probably won't have to wait long ;-) Maybe some more traps or sth :D

    Hello 50ae,

    Would also love to feature this map on our 64 slot server, but we average 50 - 60 players daily & max it out regularly, so would like it if you could offer a 64 spawn version of this - or just make one Final version followup as 64 slot, that way all servers can use it and you will get greater exposure for what looks like, at least, a nice piece of work.

    You list the map size as Large, so if space is not a problem in the map itself, I would encourage you to release it as 64 spawn.
