Reinventing Realism.

So after a long while of testing, deleting, retesting, and finally some cake, I have put this little pack together for you folks. Similar to the "Realism Revisited" pack, All of these sounds are from both recent and older packs with additional adjustments and what not. I did a large amount of tweaking to the distant gunshot sounds, it's something that's proven to be a bitch for me. I say that because its a simple process, but to get it to sound just the way I hear it in my head is difficult. (I don't expect many people to like the k98scoped sound, just putting it out there :D)

Additional credits to CC5 for the spring_shoot sound, Kenboy for the Scoped K98 sound and OpticalSnare for the distant sound with the mp40 and the thompson. In a previous release I also stated that I am not able to identify who the original author for the MG42 sound is. I take no credit for the creation of that sound, only it's continued editing.

Simply extract the files to...

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\your.account@name.here\day of defeat source\dod\Sound\weapons

Enjoy, or don't. Either way I'm going to go finish the laundry that my cat decided to piss all over...

    This is an interesting pack – lot’s of great sounds that blend together well, and some not so great sounds as well. First the good. Once again Trappa has put together a pack that really manages to give these weapons a fresh feeling. The sounds he’s put together here are different, yet they have a feeling of familiarity, i.e. that weapons fire feeling, that keeps things grounded in the DoD environment.

    Some standouts here are the Thompson/Mp-40 (love those ones), the BAR (has a very balanced, yet powerful tone) the .30 Cal and the sniper rifles for both sides. Now the not so great stuff. The Kar sounds a bit weak here – as previous reviews mentioned it has more of a heavy “thud” to it rather than the “crack!” that players are used to. Contrasting this is the STG-44, which sounds a bit too heavy and out of sync with the other axis weapons. The bazooka/grenade launchers for both sides also seem a bit weak, and need more of a ‘whoosh!’ to give the feeling of rocket being propelled from the cylinder.

    Overall though this is a great pack and a definite download. Great job Trappa!

    Are you listening to the sounds inside or outside of the game? The only sound that may appear to be muffled or "silenced" is the mp40 and when I use it in game it doesn't sound silenced.

    Most of the machine guns sound like they have a supressor/silencer attached. Muffled firing.

    These are excellence sound, i love the m1 carbine sound it so cool when you heard it in the distance. Problem here is that the BAR sound way too small, it sound like you shooting it from the distance rather then up close, same go for the k98, and mp40. I don't quite like the mp40, reason because it sound like an airsoft.

    Anyway great sound pack, i hope to see more of this.

    I'm really getting tired of deleting, and then reinstalling sound files over and over and over lol! Make a grand finale and leave us be!

    Great sounds. The mp40 is the best one IMO. Everything sounds incredible in game. The explosions, mortars, distant gun fights ... Bad to the ass yo!
