An abandoned mental hospital, circa 1950-1960's

As you could probably guess, this map is set in an abandoned late 1950's/early 1960's mental hospital. It features a room with electroshock therapy chairs(!), two floors full of rubber rooms and offices, bats flying around, even the corpses of former inmates strewn about.

This map also has a 3 minute looping background voiceover recorded by my wife and I, to help soothe the infirmed, and encourage them to cooperate with the nursing staff. :)

Here's a good run-through of the map a few beta versions before. It's 99% identical to the version posted here.

Added this map to the server i play on the other day, Now it is probably my favorite map, Great replay value due to the size and all of the hidden areas, The detail is great, It makes for a Great DM map, I wouldn't recommend it for Team DM though didn't seem as fun on that. I recommend this map for any DM server.

Pros: Large map, Lots of hidden areas, Surplus of weapons and ammo, Very detailed and overall great replay value Cons: Possibly to much ammo and the crows tend tog get in the way Improvements: None its perfect Notes: This is probably my favorite map currently, It has great replay value for DM, though i wouldn't recommend it for Team DM as it isn't as fun for some reason.

Pretty wicked cool! I was wondering where I might find the effects of the blood splatter on stuff to use on my server?

And in my view, this map will never bring HL2 atmosphere, because it is not oriented on copying HL2 design. And it's one of very rare for the last time maps where there's really nothing toput more. I think it's EXTREMELY detailed.

I say you can really deliver the atmosphere of half-life 2. Though, you should detail it up abit more.

    Peace sells.. Who's buying?

Oh my... WHY 4 VIDEOFILES ON ONE PAGE... At first, about details, overall design. Your map is detailed very well and gives a very uncommon for source maps feeling of fullness of picture and whole composition. The custom textures comfortably fit inside the filthy corridors of abandoned hospital. Rust, dirt, dust. It can be a L4D map, honestly, there are many well-hidden and well-designed secret places full of garbage, dirt and... pickable items. I was walking through it's corridors, enjoying the detail level when I saw... BIRDS... IT'S UNREAL... How could you imagine birds in the hospital where there's no even exit (I didn't find it). At second, the wall textures are unreally tiled and that looks ugly, and such ugly as some other brush details of the map geometry. The textures on wooden breakable boards are rotated incorrectly and spoil the picture. The breakable doors are made from glass (the textures are wooden), you've forgot to fix it. The map geometry is unrealistic somewhere, too many consoles and monitors along the low-poly cornery walls. The ragdolls eat a lot of ping, and don't really make the map better. It's a labirynth, not a hospital... Sounds and atmosphere - the voices are good but they distract and make it difficult to hear the happy enemy. There's no soundscape (I didn't hear echos though there must be). The balance is awful, with many batteries lying in the corners and I've found even 3 orbs in one place. This is bad and means that someone who finds the orbs will keep dominating on everyone because the orbs are deadly and the corridors are useful for orbs and there are many orbs etc. I think teamplay there is not such interesting like a simple deathmatch. My rating can seem rather twisted but I'm a good man and I wish you to sharpen this map. It can be perfect but now it's still far from that..
