A small, abandon, overgrown dam located in the heart of a northern hemisphere alpine forest.

The Dam was built on a small creek that branched off a large river and was used to serve a small town roughly 35km south west in 1963. However due to the towns growth in the recent years, the dam was not supplying a sufficient supply of water and become obsolete 35 years later.

The Dam has now been left behind and is no longer maintained, and as a result has become over grown and graffitied on.

Pros: This map has ambience, realism, etc. Better than most HL2: DM maps. Cons: I don't see any cons here. Improvements: Bigger bigger bigger!!!! Needs a big campfire... for... Campers!! But yeah good job for 1st map Notes: MORE ROOM!!!!

Great job for your first map. So here is my 2 cents from a fello mapper. Lots of great detail work, great ambient feel, nice layout and flow to it. Recommendations: Frame rates are poor because of all the static props, you may want to limit their draw/view distances to help with FPS or think about line of site issues when making your next map so the processor has less to deal with. Also, there are "black" areas on your brushes as the lightmap setting may be to high..try changing the setting from 16 to 8 or 4...it will look smoother. Some of your plant props need to have vphysics changed to nonsolid. I was not crazy about getting killed for jumping over some fences...maybe just larger playerclipping to prevent people from getting there in the first place. Overall great job on the map...very nice work. Cheers, Redclaw

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. :)

I'm not going to an admin about his post, everybody is entitled to their own opinion, if they want to rate certain aspects of this map a 0, that's ok, I just ask that they explain why so my next map can be better.

Anyway, I kind of understand where he is coming from, I didn't focus on the gameplay for this map, I just wanted to build a small environment to get used to the source engine, but I wouldn't entirely say that the map has 0 gameplay, 0 design, 0 fun.. but whatever.

Anyway, here is something for those of you who downloaded the map to do. In the level are 5 skulls, they don't require some ridiculous stunt to find, go get em ;). The last skull requires you do use the resources on the map to get to it, but there is a greater reward for finding this skull than the other 4 skulls. Have fun :)

Okay, so it requires a supreme computer to run properly. BUT IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL!! Its very beautiful, nice and big, detailed and all the good stuff. If I'd only have 16 gigs of ram, 2x Quad-Core 4.5 Ghz CPUs and 4 top of the line videos, I would play it.

Overall: the map is great, my computer sucks

Posted by aaron_da_killa Wow, so you would rate the map 5.5 because it was a bit laggy notunique? I could point out so many maps on this website (counter-strike in particular), with frame rates alot worse than mine (~5fps) that have gotten 10/10, I'm sorry man but I think thats a pretty unfair assessment notunique. To be honest, your assessment doesn't make sense, you have given the different criteria either a 10 or a 0 and you rated sound as 5, that doesn't make sense.

Appeal his assessment. Admins will look into it. You appeal, if he rejects, an admin will come after you reject his rejection :D

Damn, I dont have the PC version of HL2 so I can't play it and/or assess it fully, but from the screens I have to say it looks amazing. So amazing that, if possible, you should port to other Source games, but I don't know how that stuff works D: I can't rate it on Fun, Gameplay, or Sound but everything else I give a 10. This is probably one of the best looking maps out there, don't know how else to put it.
