You'll never go back!
UPDATED! (01/28/10): Added new icons for the Modest Pile of Hat, the Noble Amassment of Hats, and the Towering Pillar of Hats. If you prefer the old icons, then just delete everything in materials\backpack\player\items\demo except the files named "demo_bill".
UPDATED! (01/27/10): Added new icon for Backbiter's Billycock. The old one is black, which is an older design of the Billycock. The actual Billycock we got in-game is team-colored, so I changed the icon to reflect that.
UPDATED! (01/26/10): Added new icon for Bill's Hat. If you prefer the old icon, then just delete the files named "demo_bill" in materials\backpack\player\items\demo.
It's here! After receiving many requests to do this, I finally got off my butt and finished it! I hope I didn't disappoint!
What is It?
This mod will change all the backpack icons for the first set of hats to match the icons of the hats added with the Classless Update. Many of them were large and positioned oddly, thus causing them to stick out like sore thumbs amongst the other hats and items.
Affected Hats:
-Batter's Helmet -Soldier's Stash -Pyro's Beanie -Football Helmet -Mining Light -Prussian Pickelhaube -Trophy Belt -Fancy Fedora -Bill's Hat -Backbiter's Billycock -Modest Pile of Hat -Noble Amassment of Hats -Towering Pillar of Hats
(Demoman's Fro isn't included because I thought its icon looked fine as it is.)
What Went Into This?
I noticed after examining the default icons that all Valve did was pose each hat in Source SDK Model Viewer and edited them onto a transparent background, resizing them as they saw fit. I went about it the exact same way, so each icon should look completely natural amongst the other items in the backpack. I tested each one in-game (the screenshot shows in-game pictures), so I know they look pretty good.
As always, if you have any questions or problems, I read the comments fairly often and I'll be happy to answer POLITE questions and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.
To Install: Extract the materials folder from the RAR archive, find where you have Steam installed (usually C:\Program Files\Steam), and place it in Steam\steamapps\YOUR USERNAME HERE\team fortress 2\tf. If it asks you to overwrite existing folders, say yes.
Enjoy!
