A jump map with a twist... or two.

Beta of my first map.

Classes: Soldier, also possible as demoman.

Features: 13 jumps, from beginner to advanced Hidden entrance to intel TFC style custom flag model Hidden teleport room Some fun little easter eggs scattered about the map HDR lighting

I was going to wait until i had the final completed to upload this here but i'm finding less time for mapping and i guess some extra testing couldn't hurt:) Map has some kinks that need to be worked out, i'm aware of most of them and have quite a few fixed already but feel free comment on any(so i don't forget) The major changes that you'll see in the final will be the addition of some help hints where people have been getting lost on jumps, 1 extra bonus jump at the end, and some minor cosmetic changes.

Credits: mouse* - Taught me the basics of how to make jump maps when i started in sdk, also did alot of testing and providing feedback on the map. Cownaetion - Created the theme for the castle when i was struggling with it, lots of testing and feedback also.

More people who helped with testing/feedback/ideas: w33dsKiLL, LeXeR, Hamz, weeeeeO.o, Zero, godfather, Carnage and everyone in the GamingDeluxe community... too many to name.. give me a nudge on steam if i forgot to give you credit(you whore!)

Custom textures from the cncr04 and eyetex texture packs. Custom flag model credit goes here: http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/46236

Chilloutzone: 85.131.176.145:29000 Gave my map a good going over through alpha/beta:)

Thanks for all the feedback so far and the generous assesments:)

I'll try and fix some of those issues for the final muffin man, thanks for the list! :) In the meantime here's where i got the textures from: CNCR04 texture packs i found here: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=519418 Eyetex texture pack: http://www.moddb.com/games/team-fortress-2/addons/43-sci-fiindustrial-textures

I wouldn't mind seeing the texture's in the eyetex pack used more often in tf2 jump maps if any other mappers read this ;)

Note: you can see the CNCR04 textures i used in the first pic(castle) and the eyetex textures in the third.

Wow, I was really impressed, especially for your first map.

The detail is astounding, along with the scenery, lighting, texture choice, and ambiance. The variation of colors and color schemes makes it very appealing to the eye, as well as the jumps themselves. New techniques such as using the bounce of the rocket to propel you forwards adds even more excellence to this great map. Again, I love the textures, especially the last jump's castle theme (Link to texture packs, please).

On the other hand, there are a few negatives that weighs down this exceptional map. Firstly, the difficulty curve definitely was off balance. For example, and these are all in my opinion, but, 3 is harder than 4, 8 is harder than 9, and 10 is harder than 11. Also, and this was a big problem for me, the jumps are just plain confusing. I.e. I couldn't figure out how to do 7 until I skipped ahead to 9 and found that that blue-techno texture meant that rockets could rebound off of it. 12 was the same thing. In addition, and this couldn't really be classified as a negative, but the level select room is so obvious, I found it on my first run, although the intel and the rest of the "easter eggs" I did not find. Lastly, the intel's texture, for me at least, was bugged (black and purple checkerboard).

All-in-all, it is one of my favorites, as far as scenery, and is an excellent first map (about as good as tholos in my opinion.).

Since there were some problems with the jumps and whatnot.. I gave it a 9.9

I'm sure if you fix the minor problems, I will give it a 10 in the final.

    No, you.

Trying to sneak this by me, are you? You think just because I'm in a different time zone that you can try and use this to your advantage? Don't forget that my time in the present is your past!

Overall this is definitely a good map to throw up on a server and have everyone progress nicely through. It's detailed nicely, not an eyesore. It's not long, and by the time the round ends everyone should already be at or near the end, which is good. I think the map is fine as-is, just throw in the help hints and release it already.

    Final?

This is a beautiful map here, you have a nice clean and appealing symmetrical style. I also see that this is your first map and it is only beta as well so this really is impressive, nice work.
