CHANGES IN BETA 2

  • Forward spawn rooms added, similar to Granary and Well. This should make getting around the map a LOT easier.

  • A great deal of signage placed around the map to help people find their way around. Learning the map should now be a snap.

  • Some sniper cover added near the exits from the flood chambers

  • A few extra detail props added, such as fences and a hut near the red base river mouth


cpfloodwayb2 is the second BETA release of the first TF2 map by Predulus / S.E.A.L. #555 / A.o.F. (my various aliases).

I have had quite a bit of experience mapping for CSS, and have fallen in love with TF2, so naturally I wanted to jump the gun and get mapping!! Being my first TF2 map, and this version still being a beta, there are bound to be some more glitches, so bear with me.

The setting for the map is a river floodway system, inspired by the one in Saitama, Japan. Red and Blue have cunningly built their bases within close proximity of the floodway complex, and are vying for control of the facility.

The map features some fun outdoor areas, with cliffs and structures to climb and explore, as well as some truly cavernous indoor areas. I tried to keep in mind all classes when designing it, as well as trying to keep it balanced, so hopefully these efforts have paid off.

    I don't know if this has been noted 4 pages of comments are a lot to read and if your redoing the map almost completely these may not even be in the new version, 2 texture/prop things noticed

    Pros: Very creative and while it still looks industrial, it's really different from what we've seen so far. The grass in the water looks innocent but it gives a lively feeling to the map and is a perfect cache for anything or anyone. Cons: Immense map so you'll need to play it with a LOT of friends

    Improvements: Would prefer to see the map restrained inside this building instead of going out in the canyon and then another base. I like to run in tubes, come in huge room, etc. I don't care about running towards a base in a canyon, it just doesn't fit with the rest of the map.

    That's what I'm talkin' about!!! Yeah man, believe me, I don't like to give negative crits, but I gotta listen to 'my people'...all the regulars on my server. It's cool that you're receptive to change though. When the new version comes out, I'll give it another go on my server. :)

    Bowser and Chicky, etc, I am listening, gents.

    While I have been on servers where people have been having a LOT of fun, and saying so, playing the map, I do think it is a bit large now too.

    So I am making a new version...

    Here's a little screenie mid-develop

    I have cut out the huge middle chamber and the red and blue large side chambers.

    I am replacing them with a mini-version of one of the side-chambers, which now becomes the centre CP... the other 2 previous side-chamber CPs get moved to the little HUTs between the canyons and the water.

    The added changes to the spawn points is very welcomed, but it still doesn't seem to be much of a benefit to the map. Quite honestly, this map almost killed my server. People were getting bored and leaving because it's just SO big.

    Again, it's a wonderful looking map, fits the TF2 theme great. But I will more than likely have to take it off of my server's rotation unless a 'floodway lite' version comes out. Sorry man...my vote stands.

    Looks awesome, we played it quite a bit on the CD server when you were there. We loved it, and thanks for adding the new spawns! Also, there is a bug. On the red side you can jump on the roof, and then proceed to the other side of it and fall down a hole that you can't get out. The same thing with the blue side, but you can't get stuck.
