Posted by v8esprit Let's not disparage this map just yet. Its still a work in progress. Author, we ran this map on the Q Servers in June 2008 but had to remove it once the general population started playing it. You need to optimize this map since a lot of people complained of severe framerate issues, esp for players with HDL enabled. Perhaps all the recessed lighting is a cause for this? If you could include this along with the suggestions that VilePickle made, we'd love to put it back into our rotation. Its a great twist on ctf and overall, I really enjoyed it. Thanks... -dejavu.Lox

Posted by Vilepickle Looks like a page out of my book, which is a positive.

Agreed, seeing the first screenshot, I though: "Vilepickle latest map ?" But, after watching it a little bit more, it's a not as perfect as Vilepickle's work.

Anyway, congratulation, it's a great job.

Ok, I've checked this out now.

    1. Work on clipping. There are a lot of walls where you can get stuck on details. When you run along a wall, you shouldn't run into stuff and become "stuck"

    2. I'm liking the concept, but I'm a bit unsure of the whole map design. It's good because it's pretty simple, but the action seems like it would be pretty spread, since it doesn't appear there's any real chokepoint. All of the catwalks/ground area look the same, and the mostly flat ground probably isn't helping on that front.

    3. Nice signs. Also, nice brushwork on the towers. That looks pretty good.

    4. Going with a potential design flaw: I noticed you used closed area portals on your doors from the "blue" field to the red side of the map. I think that's a nice solution to FPS woes, but I'm not sure that's really a good place to put giant doors like that. It seems rather awkward. Also, if they're being used a lot, the entire other are is going to be drawn anyway.

Looks like a good start. I'd recommend, overall, to think about the layout and visibility for the doors splitting the map, and also think about ways to focus action more on specific areas. Right now it seems like it would be all over the place.

Pros: Very unique and interesting ctf type map. Cons: The CP area and the CTF area are so alike that it doesn't really provide a lot of variety. Improvements: None that I can think of. Excellent work on the directional signs!

Looks like a page out of my book, which is a positive. I'll take some time to run through it later, but giving it a 10 right now.

The game type seems unique, but I'll post some impressions on how it was implemented later when I check it out more.

Looks nice but is a bit too close to the Unreal Tournament side than TF2 side. Apart from that, great job.
