A medium sized pirate themed map set at night at various locations. Team Blu starts on the ship and must take over the various points controlled by the red. 24 players

This is an update from cppiratelifeb3

Yo ho yo ho this map has a pirate theme to break away from the TF2 standard theme.

This is a 3 stage map with 2 caps per stage.

The first stage has blu attacking an abandoned island fort and a tanker. The points are near to eachother so red should beat a hasty retreat to guard the tanker.

The second stage has blu attacking a port town. There is an extra entrance through a drainage pipe at the port.

The third stage has blu attacking a small village and a pirate cove.

Its set at night so players can use the cover of darkness to hide in shadows and sneak around to get the drop on their enemies

changes:

Massive overhaul of the first stage. Too many specific changes to note.

added volumetrics to spotlights for effect.

raised 3rd capture point

added a barrier to the 4th capture point to help break up that point.

added an extra layer to the final point to allow for some more z-fighting

When it switches to level 2 the attackers respawn doors are not locked for the first 10 seconds or so and the attackers can run out and cap, which messes up the game play...level 3 is the same also if I recall

Posted by nicdj94 Why is all good looking maps TF2 maps?! XD

Because the orange box engine has vast improvements compared to the original source engine.

That, and the orange box SDK is a wonderful tool compared to some map making programs (IE: The one for FarCry 2)

Good looking map, I played one of the betas before...I think I'll try this one out soon.

    y i laggin?

Pros: Well done! Much more improved from the previous version. All those ledges and the unreasonable areas have been blocked off to allow a fairer and balanced game. The map still looks just as good as before. The first stage definitely has improved. Plays like a charm! Cons: I am still having the problem seeing the yellow colored nodraw entity in the water, but maybe it's just me. Improvements: None. Notes: Really great! Nicely done! Keep up the good work! :)

Pros: I can confidently say this is one of the best theme Team Fortress 2 Maps i've come across in a long time. Pirates fit quite well with the cartoon theme.

You've definatly got the idea captured in with the rocky caves, old tavern styled buildings and the ship. Screenshot 2 is the best picture. The authenticity of the barrels and wood is very good and styled well.

I also love the the combination of cave and buildings, very good indeed.

Cons: As this is on beta, you would expect some con's but only little ones.

My first concern would be that the walls look very bare, i think it would benefit quite a lot of with some typical Team Fortress 2 posters.

I also find that the ship is lacking some features, such as bars around the edges, portholes and being lighter so it can be marvelled.

I also find that the water looks very looped and generic. This isn't a very nice idea as it makes your map look poorer when you can see your skill is quite good.

    Improvements:

    • Adding posters and other textures to walls to make them look less bland.
    • Add features to the ship such as bars around the edges, portholes and being lighter so it can be marvelled.
    • Fix the water to become much more life like and less looped.
Notes: Great effort can't wait for next release.
