Welcome to the latest installment of Billiards! Billiards2 brings back the same great fun but adds onto it with graphical and engine improvements. I'd still watch out for that 8-ball if I were you..

Billiards2 Alpha 2 - Public Alpha Release

The second installment of Billiards. This map includes the same great fun, but with an all new look and tons of optimizations.

The biggest graphical upgrade is the inclusion of model billiard balls. Thanks to Fishy, the modeler, billiards2 looks like a "real" game of billiards! There is even a new type of ball, the cue ball, which heals and gives ammo to both teams!

Currently, there are a few gameplay elements missing. These include a live scoreboard and completed 3d skybox. There are a few other tweaks and adjustments that need to be made... but it's certainly fully playable!

Please try and test things like snipers being able to camp from spawn, graphical glitches, scoring errors, etc... hopefully nothing too major found its way into this alpha release.

    Oh wow, so you're behind both versions? Sweet. I've been a huge fan of the billiards maps ever since my regular server had billiards_b3 (which was pretty old even then, I guess). I'm wondering why you abandoned the old one, though; it just needed a few improvements like the new ball models.

    In particular I miss that the balls were at least color coded. It's a lot harder to tell which are which now, especially in the heat of battle. I think plain red and blue balls with white circles and maybe numbers on them would be the best compromise. Plus I think I liked the setting better; it looked kind of like a rec room in somebody's basement.

    As for stuff neither version had that would be nice additions: Sinking balls ought to trigger a capture in the player's stats so players can get credit for something other than just kills. Also I don't know if it's possible to add custom icons to the feed on the top right, but having one for the eight ball would add a nice touch of completeness.

    All told, this is pretty impressive for an alpha even if most of the code work had already been figured out from the last one. You've got the makings of a potential "official community map" going with these; keep it up!

    Yeah, that is something that has been brought to my attention. I've fixed it, though won't be releasing another version until Beta 1.

    Love the map, only problem I've run into is that occasionally people will spawn slightly inside the lamp so that they can't move until they kill themselves to respawn.

    This is so awesome. But I've only seen 1 server hosting a billiards map EVER. And it's always empty.
