A hexedit of the kritzkrieg model to make using custom skins a little less painful.

NOTE: THE SKINS SHOWN IN THE SCREENSHOTS AND RENDER ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS FIX! They are simply what I used to test this model edit. You can get them here at FPSBanana, if you wish. "Updated Team Coloured Uber Cannons" by LogicalX - http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/35037 "Kritzkrieg Revamp" by 90SK - http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/48749

I REPEAT: THE SKINS SHOWN IN THE SCREENSHOTS AND RENDER ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS FIX.

This is a small fix to the Kritzkrieg model that fixes a paticularly annoying issue that skinners may have.

You see, the Kritzkrieg, for some reason known only to Valve, using bits of the Medigun skin rather than having it's own. And it always uses the Red skin, too. The result being, when using, say, team-coloured medigun skins that the Kritzkrieg attachment model would be using the wrong team colour on BLU players.

Plus, it's just a lot less flexible. You know?

Anyway, this is a very slight fix in a hex-editor that makes the kritzkrieg use wmedigun/cmedigun01.vmt instead of wmedigun/wmedigun01. This means that, with a very slight edit to the vmt file in any text editor, you can use seperate custom skins for the kritzkrieg form that of the Medigun!

This doesn't make skinning the kritz any less of a freakin' pain, but it makes things a little easier :)

HOW TO INSTALL AND USE: 1.) Extract to steamapps/team fortress 2/tf 2.) Install your custom kritz skin as normal (it should be in materials/models/weapons/wmedigun 3.) Rename the vtfs and vmts to cmedigun01 (or whatever. cmedigunnormal etc.) 4.) Edit the vmt file in a text editor to refer to cmedigun01(whatever).vtf instead of w_medigun01. 5.) Install your custom medigun skins as normal.

I've included an example, using a copy of the default kritzkrieg skin.

Hope this comes in useful! As opposed to, say, not useful.

Nice. Finally lets me get a skin for both the medigun and kritzkreig without them ruining each other.

Very nice job! Is this possible to do with NAtascha, so that it uses a different texture? Because, well, think of the possibilities...

Though you probably shouldn't use other people's skins in your screenshots, unless you're demonstrating the fix you made (which I guess you were doing, so whatever).

Yeah, this is what I was trying to do. If you want me to remove your skin from my screens, just say.

I'm sorry this has caused so much confusion guys!

Hah, you took the fun out of skinning the kritzkrieg :P

It was annoying as hell monkeying around with the texture figuring out which bits repeat where, and all that crap. But I was very rewarding finally figuring it out.

This is a great resource, I applaud what you've done here. Though you probably shouldn't use other people's skins in your screenshots, unless you're demonstrating the fix you made (which I guess you were doing, so whatever).

Good fix, thanks for linking my skins. I might have to make a kritzkrieg reskin now that you have a fix for it. Nice Job man.

    Looks ALOT like 90sk's skin.

Please read the description. Specifically the bit where I say those screenshots were taken using that skin for testing and that it is not included.

I will move this disclaimer to the top of the description so people actually read it.

I accept your appeal. How do I un-disaprove without rating it?

Great job, I'll appeal the disapproval if you add a first person shot (View model)

I'll add one, but I'm not entirely sure exactly how that would further illustrate that it's just a fix and not a different skin.

Unless of course you just posted without reading the description, but you wouldn't do that, would you? :)

So, if I have team colored medigun installed, can I use this fix, and the kritz will use different team colors? Please quote me, I really want an answer.

The kritz uses only one skin, I can't fix that without decompiling, recompiling, and other yuckiness I have no idea how to do. This simply lets you choose which skin is used, instead of being forced to use the red medigun skin.
