    Yea, you do. Quit using that base dude, it's the reason your skins look like lava rock with white chalk as highlights. Lower the contrast on it then merge the contrast mask layer with your base. Then start your highlighting.

    I make all my bases for each skin. it's a new one everytime. I guess some are just better than others.

    The base your using really isnt that good. it makes the highlights look washed out. and you shouldnt highlight the whole blade part. just the parts that are facing the light source.
